5 Different Types of Sheet Mask Materials
Hey FaceTory Fam! đ
You know youâre a #sheetmaskjunkie if youâve tried out all the different sheet masks in the market. Weâre talking your cotton, your charcoal, your bubble, your hydrogelâ woo! The list goes on! With all these different types of sheet mask materials, youâre probably wondering what the difference is, and if there even is a difference!đ Â Weâre here to explain, so if youâre interested then just keep reading! đ
Letâs start with saying that we like to think each one is different. True, it may seem like sheet masks are all the same but each one is made to provide you with something specific, similar to how other skincare products work. Maybe itâs hydration, maybe itâs soothing, maybe itâs clarifying! Whatever it is, sheet masks are made to provide your skin with extra essential nutrients and love, so the material of the sheet mask is also important to take note of!
Here is a breakdown of the most commonly used sheet mask materials:
1. Cotton/Microfiber/Cupra/Tencel
These are the most common sheet mask materials. They are made of soft white cellulose fabric material. All of these materials are plant-derived, so they're all non-irritating!
Cotton: Fits well on the face and has a white fabric. It does not contain harsh chemicals that may irritate the skin. It is soft, absorbent, and allows air and moisture move around freely, allowing your skin to stay comfortable and moisturized.
Microfiber: Feels like soft silk and is white in color. It is usually a little thicker and softer than regular cotton sheets. It also conforms onto the face better. This material is eco-friendly because is biodegradable and does not contain harmful chemical ingredients.Â
Cupra: Made from âcotton lintersâ. These are short fibers that are left behind after processing raw cotton. This sheet mask material is white but has a transparent appearance when applied on the skin. It allows for moisture control and ensures that your skin is getting essence that is evenly distributed.
Tencel: This fiber is naturally derived from trees, it is a newer fiber that is considered a type of high-quality lyocell fiber. It is biodegradable and eco-friendly. It has a white/light cream color and feels like silk on the skin!
2. Hydrogel
This sheet mask material has a transparent look and requires careful handling! Donât pull or tug on a hydrogel mask as it may rip and youâll be left with sticking puzzle pieces to your face. They are 100% soluble and feels like a cool, thin layer of film on your face. It is a definite must try!
3. Bio-cellulose
This is an all natural fiber and really sticks to your skin! No joke, youâll feel like you have a second layer of skin protecting you. Itâs very similar to hydrogels but bio-cellulose sheet masks are usually thinner. The strong adhesion allows active ingredients to really sink in. You donât want all those nutrients to evaporate into the air, right?!
4. Foil
Look a little crazy and try a foil sheet mask! Foil sheet mask materials really help prevent the liquid, nutrients, and active ingredients from evaporating. It has a cotton layer on the side where it touches your skin making it super comfortable to wear.
5. Charcoal
This sheet mask material is a black material and feels super smooth on the skin. Charcoal powder is compressed and infused into the sheet to detox the skin and help balance out excess oils.
Now, what are you waiting for?! Grab a sheet mask that you have yet to try! New experiences are always the best! đ¤
