At FaceTory, we’ve been talking about fermented ingredients in skincare recently, and today’s ingredient is Fermented Honeybush.
Honeybush, otherwise known as Cyclopia, is a flowering plant species known for its health benefits. Found often in herbal teas, Honeybush is grown natively in and around South Africa and is supposed to help fight a variety of ailments and diseases.
What type of skin benefits the most from this ingredient?
Honeybush is good for aging skin and can help improve elasticity and a natural youthful glow. When fermented, Honeybush’s healing and hydrating properties are amplified and are supposed to be especially good for acne-prone, dry, or dehydrated skin.
What benefits does it have on the skin?
Fermented Honeybush releases an antioxidant that is supposed to add moisture back to the skin and even protect it against fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.
It can also protect against UV-burned and inflamed skin, which means that it can promote clearer skin and repair skin damaged by sun burns, inflammation, and acne.
That’s a wrap on today’s 101 on Fermented Honeybush. Stay tuned for more informed skincare tips!
