Hey FaceTory Fam!
Welcome back! Today will be your super-simplified crash course on milia!
What is it, you ask? Well, have you ever seen a small, hard bump around your eyes or cheeks? Like you know it's not a pimple and you know it's not some sort of rash... so you're just left a bit confused. It might be this thing called milium, or milia. Milia are basically skin flakes or keratin that get stuck under the skin, causing small white bumps.
It can be caused by many different factors:
- overusing oil-based products
- skin trauma
- not exfoliating
And much more! But overall, milia is not harmful and is actually quite common to have as a baby and even as an adult. Milia could go away by itself over time or it can easily be extracted by a dermatologist! In fact, one of the gals at FaceTory had milia and got it removed by her dermatologist. She happily reported that the extraction wasn't painful at all (:
On a side note, when we posted about milia on TikTok, we received some amazing comments! Someone even mentioned that they think it's cute, so they never thought to extract it. We loved that! 👏
We're all about support and our FaceTory Fam never fails to amaze me. ^-^
