Teen Acne
Hey, FaceTory Fam!
We think everyone can relate when we say teen acne is never fun 🙅♀️
Let’s face it, it's super confusing and frustrating to deal with! Maybe you get breakouts here and there, or maybe you're fed up and yelling at your skin like, “OMGSH! What more do you want!?”
Allow us to help! During your teen years, acne may be related to puberty and hormones. At this age, you’re probably producing excess sebum (oil) and possibly breaking out on your face, chest, and/or back. Let's just start off by saying that this is completely normal and you're not the only one going through it! Don't be too harsh on yourself! Your skin/body is doing what it needs to in order to be balanced and healthy!
The best way to help your skin at this age is to maintain a good skincare routine and AVOID stripping ingredients like alcohol! I'll explain everything below!
Here are my need-to-know tips that can really help control your skin:
Tip 1: Cleanse
If you’re wearing makeup, use an oil cleanser to remove the makeup first! Double cleansing is one of the best ways to gently cleanse your face without stripping away essential moisture from your skin. And you definitely want to avoid cleansers that make your skin feel tight! That won't help your skin in the long run!
Tip 2: Hydrate & Moisturize
Maybe you’re like, “my skin is moisturized enough since it's oily!” But nope, your excess oils can actually mean your skin is dehydrated! Dehydrated skin = more oil production = more breakouts! So, do your skin a favor and make it a habit to hydrate and moisturize. This goes for dry skin types as well! We recommend adding in sheet masks throughout the week to help! Tip 3: Sun Protection
You might be wondering how sunscreen can help teen acne. Well, my friend, it helps tremendously with the aftermath of breakouts A.K.A dreadful hyperpigmentation. Sunscreen helps minimize the appearance of dark spots plus it protects you from skin cancer! So yeah, sunscreen is pretty amazing.
Tip 4: Eat Clean
Help your skin from the inside! Try to lower the amount of sugar, dairy, and oil intake. Oh and drink lots of water!
This may all seem pretty cliché but setting up your skin now will help it in the future! So keep at it, friend! You've got this!
