The first thing that pops in my head when I hear free radical/ environmental damage is WRINKLES!
But it’s much more than that! Free radical damage pretty much ruins your cells by creating unstable atoms that are extremely reactive. It leads to a cycle called oxidative stress which damages the body’s cells, leading to wrinkles and even potential diseases.
So, where do free radicals come from and how can you prevent free radical damage? Today, I’m giving you a quick rundown on this topic! So, let’s get to it!
What does free radical damage look like?
Free radical damage causes premature aging. It can look like fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots.
Where do they come from?
Things like pollution, being surrounded by toxic chemicals, smoking, and UVA and UVB damage!
How can you prevent free radical damage/ fix it?
The usual things you hear every day! Having a balanced diet packed with antioxidants, exercising, wearing sunscreen, not smoking, and reducing stress. Pretty normal things you hear all the time, right? You can also help your skin defend itself by applying skincare that will add a layer of protection on your skin! Yay sunscreen and antioxidant-rich products!
Sunscreen paired with a skincare product that contains antioxidant-rich ingredients, such as Vitamin C, is the perfect match for a morning routine before you head out the door! Your boosting product can be a sheet mask, serum, or moisturizer! Having a strong duo will protect your precious skin barrier from damage!
