Hey FaceTory Fam! We’re SO excited to announce our NEW series: Sheet Mask 101 👻✨ We want to help you all out on your sheet masking journey 💪🏼 with the release of our first video: What is a Sheet Mask? 🙀 In this video, we’re going to be introducing our Sheet Mask 101 series & talking about the basics of what a sheet mask is.
We have a huge passion for skincare and sheet masks and are here to educate people about how sheet masks work, not simply using products without understanding them! Happy Masking! ✨
- Why + What is a sheet mask?
If you’re here to learn about what a sheet mask is and how to use it, you’ve come to the right place! We are here to give you the 101 on everything sheet masks.
Sheet masks are the gateway item into the world of Korean beauty and skincare! If you’ve already heard of sheet masks you’re probably seeing how big of a sensation K-beauty is becoming all around the world!
Acting as inexpensive mini facials, sheet masks give the skin intense hydration, suppleness, and brightening effects in less than half an hour! Most sheets are soaked in essence containing nourishing active ingredients.
The essence is kept from evaporating as the sheet mask works to lock in all the moisture and protect it from being exposed to the air. With such close contact to the skin, the essence forces the antioxidants and vitamins to penetrate into the skin’s top layer more effectively than if the essence was applied on its own. Sheet masks can range in functions, materials, and ingredients. However, the majority of sheet masks are typically made for brightening, moisturizing, acne control, pore care, or anti-aging effects.
- How to Sheet Mask
Here we will demonstrate how to use a sheet mask properly:
- Remove mask from the package.
- Unfold the sheet mask and place it on your face aligning the holes to your eyes, nose, and mouth. If there is any remaining essence left in the bag, pat the extra essence all over your neck, arms, elbows, knees, etc.
- Sit back and relax for 15-25 minutes.
- Peel off the mask and discard the sheet mask.
- Gently pat the essence into your face for maximum absorption.
- Moisturize afterwards to seal in all of the nutrients.
- What are sheet masks made out of?
Sheet masks are made from different types of materials. We will go over more about them in a future video but for now, here are some basic sheet masks.
Basic sheet masks made out of cotton, plant fibers or other syntheic fibers. This mask is made out of 100% natural cellulose plant fiber
Here’s a Hydrogel. Hydrogels are usually thicker than cotton masks. They are basically essences containing all of the nourishing active ingredients formed into a gel.
This is a biocellulose mask. Biocellulose are made from natural fibers which are obtained from “good” bacteria. They are usually thinner than Hydrogels.
